UAE weather alert: Rain hits parts of country, more showers expected
Temperatures climb gradually while coastal areas could see overnight fog
DUBAI – Rain fell in parts of the UAE as unstable weather affected sections of the country on Friday.
A downpour was reported in Al Dhaid in Sharjah, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), which has warned of convective cloud activity, rainfall and strong winds in affected areas. The weather service has also forecast another chance of rain on Saturday, particularly over eastern parts of the country.

The NCM said Saturday’s weather will be fair to partly cloudy, with convective clouds expected to form eastward during the afternoon and accompanied by rainfall. Temperatures are forecast to rise gradually, while conditions will turn humid overnight and on Sunday morning in some coastal areas, with a possibility of light fog.
Weather alert
The weather alert issued for Friday remains in effect from 1.30pm until 10pm, covering some eastern and southern areas. An NCM map showed the affected zones extending across parts of the east coast, including areas around Fujairah and Sharjah, along with a separate area in the south.
The NCM warned that convective clouds could be accompanied by fresh to strong winds, which may stir up dust and sand and reduce horizontal visibility at times. Motorists in affected areas have been urged to exercise caution, particularly where sudden showers, gusty winds or blowing dust could affect driving conditions.

The highest temperature recorded across the UAE on Friday was 46.3°C in Sweihan, Al Ain, at 3.30pm, according to the NCM.
Saturday outlook
For Saturday, the NCM expects winds to be light to moderate, becoming fresh at times with the development of clouds. Winds will blow from southeasterly to northeasterly directions at speeds of 10 to 25 km/h, reaching 40 km/h.
The Arabian Gulf is expected to have slight seas. The first high tide is forecast at 6.08pm, while the first low tide will occur at 10.27am, followed by a second low tide at 2.56am.
In the Sea of Oman, seas will range from slight to moderate. The first high tide is expected at 2.21pm, with the second at 6.01am. Low tides are forecast at 9.37am and 10.31pm.
The NCM’s latest forecast indicates that cloud activity will remain focused particularly over eastern areas, where conditions could turn wet during the afternoon. The combination of convective clouds and stronger winds means some areas could also experience brief periods of blowing dust and reduced visibility.
